Advocate Antony R Julian

Being a third generation lawyer, Advocate Antony Julian has had an avid interest in law from a very young age. Graduating with a First class Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai, he undertook a 6-month internship at the Asian-Africa Legal Consultative Organisation (AALCO) at New Delhi, where he gained a first-hand understanding of the field of public international law and international organizations. While at AALCO, Advocate Antony also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Law and Diplomacy from the Indian Society of International law, Delhi thus gaining a dual exposure to the practical and academic side of Public international law.

Advocate Antony graduated with an LLB from University College London (Class of 2010-2013). While at London, he got an opportunity to get practical exposure to the English legal system by interning with judges of the Central Criminal Court and law firms. In his final year, Advocate Antony researched and submitted a thesis on the need to extend statutory protection to Fan-fiction.

On his return to India, Advocate Antony enrolled in the Indian bar and practiced under his father Dr. A Francis Julian, a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. At Dr. Julian’s Chamber’s he drafted legal opinions, prepared for court appearances, participated in multiple arbitrations in the field of maritime law, assisted in a general commercial practice at the highest appellate court in India.

Since October 2014, Advocate Antony has been working with Mr. Salman Khurshid at his chamber where he has worked in cases from a broad spectrum of law – Telecom and broadcasting disputes, IPR disputes, Criminal matters, Company matters, Arbitrations, Consumer disputes, Mining matters, PILs, Property disputes, education matters, Religious minority institutions, etc., at various forums in New Delhi such as the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) and, the Company Law Board.

Advocate Antony has a special interest in Copyright and trademark laws, telecom and broadcasting laws, and maritime law.
